Types of cuisine
Lately, cuisine has been taking an important role in everybody’s life. The food industry is growing in a surprising way, and every time, more and more restaurants are created all over the word. In these restaurants, not only local food is served; on the contrary, they serve dishes from all over the world. There are many types of cuisine, each country and even each city has its own type of food. However, some are more famous and recognized than others.
Spanish food
One of the most recognized cuisines is probably the Spanish cuisine. Spanish food is famous all over the world. Dishes such as: saffron rice (Paella), Spain tapas, potato omelet (Tortilla Española o de Patatas), Callos a la Madrileña, etc, are only some of the most popular and well known dishes. There is no doubt that when a tourist goes to Spain, the first thing that he will do is to try Spain’s traditional food. That is why Gastronomic Tourism is really practiced in this country.
Gastronomic Tourism
Gastronomic Tourism refers to tourists who visit the country and eat all the traditional food that the country has to offer. This experience does not only include going to restaurants located in the main cities; they also try non-traditional foods and typical dishes from markets, typical stores, houses in little towns, etc. That is how tourists learn about the gastronomy of the country as well as its history.
Peruvian cuisine
Peruvian cuisine is not as famous as the Spanish one; however, it is getting more and more famous thanks to its exotic and unique dishes. They are unique due to their typical ingredients; most of these ingredients can only be found in the country.
Peru nature
Peru nature generates products so unique as lemon, lucuma, Peruvian corn, sweet potatoes, chili, and quinoa, to mention only a few. Some of these products can be possibly found in other countries but these are not quite the same as the ones found in Peru. These products are used to prepare Peruvian dishes such as: Ceviche, Papa a la Huancaina, Anticucho, Causa, Lomo Saltado, Carapulcra, Arroz con Pato, etc.
But Peruvian food is not only delicious; it is also nutritive. There are dishes such as ceviche which is raw fish marinated in Lemon, or Pachamanca, which consists of non-seasoned meats cooked by hot stones, or quinoa soup which contains quinoa and several vegetables. The quinoa is very nutritive because it possesses high quantities of proteins, phosphorus, magnesium and iron.
