Tourism in this country has a very big importance, because it helps enormously to improve the economy. The most fantastic attractions of Portugal are: 

• Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, this beautiful city is the seventh-most- favorite destiny in Southern Europe, after Istanbul, Rome, Madrid, Athens, Milan, and Barcelona. Lisbon has a rich legacy, its architecture is designed with the most gorgeous styles:  Romanesque, Gothic, Manueline, Baroque, Modern and Post-Modern. The Lisbon museums are another of the most important attractions, many people came to Lisbon only to learn more about the history of Portugal.
• Aveiro, also called “the Venice of Portugal” because of the many canals, bridges, and painted boats called moliceiros, similar to the gondolas of Venice. It also has many incredible beaches like São Jacinto, Barra and Costa Nova. 
• Bragan is famous because of the Archdiocese, it has historical buildings, monuments, gardens and fountains. Braga is also called “Portuguese Rome” for its concentration of religious architecture. 
• Coimbra, also called “cidade alta” or “upper town” because of old churches and narrow streets standing up on a hill overlooking the Mondego River. It has the ninth oldest university in the world. 
• Évora, a very historical city, counts with the most renowned monuments, it is a city protected by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. 
• Oporto, called the “Invincible City”, the city is built along the hills overlooking the Douro river estuary with many historical buildings, art treasures, medieval cathedrals and museums, it was declared a World Heritage status by UNESCO in 1996.
• Algarve, a beautiful holiday destination, sunshine, golden sandy beaches, marvelous natural landscapes and a network of golf courses.  The most famous beaches are: Praia da Marinha to Armação de Pêra.  Look for golf course reviews.
