The Venezuelan history

Venezuela is a wonderful country located in South America. The Venezuelan history is formed by different facts and actions during 200 years of independence; of course, its culture still comes from many years ago. At the same time, this culture is a mix of three different cultures, histories and races; the African people, the natives of South America culture and the history of Spain. Each one has contributed to form the great Venezuelan Culture.

The old Venezuela art

Crafts are one of the oldest expressions of Venezuelan People since 14 000 years ago when the first American natives occupied Venezuela. Their human techniques owned by hunter-gatherer societies produced many expressions like objects and utensils made of wood and stone. Later, these natives knew other techniques to manage other natural resources like wet mud or clay and straw. The Saladoide and Barrancoide populations are worthy representatives of these techniques with baskets and small statuettes. Of course, all of these crafts formed the old Venezuela art, one of the richest in the Region.

The Venezuelan gastronomy

But crafts are not their only expression of Culture, the Venezuelan gastronomy is surprising in this Region. The variety of dishes and meals in the country are a result of these three cultural conjunctions: Africa, natives of South America and Spain.

Venezuelan dishes

Therefore, Venezuela has many dishes like the Arepa, its most famous dish. Other dishes are the pabellón criollo, Hallaca, Sancocho and grilled creole. Of course, foreign dishes were adopted in its gastronomy, some examples are the fabada, the pasticho and the pastas (Venezuela is the second country to consume this product, behind Italy).

Besides, Venezuela has delights that will surprise visitors and tourists with its desserts, for example, the most representative, dulce de lechoza, this is only an example of the variety of Venezuelan flavors.

Music in Venezuela

But fun and music are two very important elements of the influence of Africa and Spain, again. The most representative musical genre here is the Llanera music. It is produced with four instruments: the harp, maracas, mandolin and mats. The benefits of music, especially the Llanera`s music, to Venezuela are many, an example is that all the world knows Venezuela like the Llanero country, because this musical genre is famous all over South America.

However, Venezuela prefers Caribbean rhythms, this is a reflection of the feelings of its people and one of them is the Salsa. Salsa is famous around the country and very popular in the United States. This rhythm is the legacy of Venezuela to the world.

Finally, these are some examples of Venezuelan culture, of course there are many other expressions, but we think that these ones are the most important expressions in this beautiful country that offers its beautiful beaches, amazing Amazon and, of course, the charm of its people.
