The city of Liverpool is located in the borough of Merseyside, in the Northeast region of England, along the eastern side of the Mersey Estuary. The city is at 53°24′0″N 2°59′0″W, 176 miles northwest of London city, the capital of England.

Liverpool is built across a ridge of sandstone hills, being the highest point the Everton Hill with a height of 230 feet above sea-level, which represents the southern boundary of the West Lancashire Coastal Plain.

Liverpool is like much of the British Isles, with relatively cool summers and mild winters. The coastal location of the city makes the Liverpool weather be moderated by the sea and the Gulf Stream so that the climate cannot be extremely hot or cold. But what happens is that the weather is very changeable and within hours we can go from cold to hot or hot to rain.

The Bidston Observatory

For many years ago The Bidston Observatory has been providing the weather data for the Merseyside area, in order to record the lowest temperature and highest temperature of all years, being the lowest temperature −12.8 °C (9 °F) during January 1881 and the highest 34.5 °C (94.1 °F) in August 1990.

According to the 1971-2000 average, the coldest night of the year should fall to −4 °C (25 °F) and the warmest day of the year should reach 27.5 °C (81.5 °F).

Animal diversity in Liverpool

Animal diversity in Liverpool is modest, as a result of the climate and other factors of the English Island. The  early industrialization of Great Britain has contributed to the loss of species, about 100 species have become extinct in the UK during the 20th century but some other species, such as the brown rat, red fox, and introduced gray squirrel, are well adapted to urban areas.

The flora in Liverpool

The flora is also impoverished for similar reasons as the fauna. In Great Britain, the flora comprises 3,354 vascular plant species, of which 2,297 are native and 1,057 have been introduced into the island.

Liverpool is a very important city and an ideal place for all types of tourists with many attractions such as historical places, shopping, music and an exciting nightlife.The importance of this English city is mainly because it was the hometown of one of the most significant bands in the world, the Beatles, this city has become a place of pilgrimage for most of the fans of this fantastic  pop group. Also the city is well known because of its famous soccer team Liverpool.
