Valencia is a paradise for shoppers, if you’ve already enjoyed the great attractions that this city offers to visitors such as: La Catedral, Torres de Serranos, Iglesia de San Juan del hospital, Museo de Bellas Artes San Pio V, The City of Arts and Sciences, the Botanic Garden or the popular events of bullfighting in Spain; you can start a great adventure through all the markets and shopping centers scattered around the city.
In this article we give you some advice on where and what to buy in certain places in Valencia, Spain:
We cannot deny that Spain is in general a shopper paradise; and Valencia as one of the largest Spanish cities surely impresses everyone with the variety of possibilities. If you want to know about the opening hours, you’ll notice that most shops are closed during the siesta time (2:00 to 4.00 pm); the rest of the day, it’s easy to find an open store.
The Central Market
One of the most visited places is the Central Market (Mercado Central), where you can find almost everything you’re looking for during your shopping in Valencia, with over 1000 posts that attend from Monday to Saturday’s mornings (7:30 to 14:30 hours).

Across the city you’ll see a mixture of traditional shops, boutiques, department stores and shopping malls; prepare your credit card and go for the best shopper experience in your lifetime and you don’t have to worry about food, because the shopping centers are well-implemented with leisure zones, cinemas and restaurants in Valencia; and more.

Markets in Valencia
Many markets in Valencia conserve their traditions, with open air flea markets, other hippie-style-markets known as Mercadillos, where one can find antiques, flowers, and whatever one is looking for; there are Mercadillos that open in certain days and at certain hours such as:
- L’Escuraeta: Opened at Plaza de la Reina in the Día de la Virgen de los Desamparados (the celebration of that Virgin), you can find ceramics there.
- El Rastro: Opened on Sundays at Area around the Campo de Fútbol de Mestalla
- Benimaclet: Opened at c/ Rafael Tramoyeres, c/ Juan Giner on Fridays
- Central: Opened at the Plaza del Mercado on Mondays
- Mercado de Navidad (Christmas Market): The market opens since Christmas Eve and all the season (December 15 – January 6) around the Mercado Central and the Mercado del Cabañal, you can find Christmas decorations, toys, nativity sets, etc.
