Romulus and Remus

The history of Rome is very complex, however all this history of glory and treachery begins with Romulus and Remus, both sons of Rea Silva, a princess deprived of her reign, the Alba city. However, the new impostor king Amulio ordered casting Romulus and Remus to the seas of Tibet River but the twins survived when they were adopted and breastfeed by a wolf. Years later Romulo kills his brother by ambition and founded Rome in the Palatino hill. This way, the history of the eternal City, Rome begins.

The first years of the city

The first years of the city were depressing, the population of Rome was composed of outcasts, criminals and vagrants from neighboring villages, Rome didn’t have women. For this reason Romulo and his citizens declared war on the neighboring village Sabine, a village famous for its beautiful women. Finally both towns signed peace; however Rome conquered its women and all its culture. 

The monarchy of Rome

Rome begins its history with a monarchy, seven kings governed the eternal city, before they came from three different dynasties like Latins (Romulus), Sabines and Etruscans. The last one of these Kings was Tarquinio the Proud, an arrogant, pompous, selfish and severe dictator. They left a hateful memory in all Romans that they decided to change the system of government in Rome, The Republic age began.

The Republic age

The republic began in 194 b.c. with a civil war between patricians and plebeians. In the city of Rome, the senators agreed on two consuls as gubernators of Rome, but the figure of King was denied. In addition, the senators   declared war on Carthage, too,  this period of time is called The Punic Wars, these wars finished with the defeat of Carthage in front of Rome, since this period Rome became a real force in the Mediterranean Sea. After that Rome maintained wars with Greece, this last one was defeated however Rome was defeated in front of Greece, in the Cultural aspect. Until this point the Europe map had changed. Of course, the Roman people adopted the Greece religion, architecture, style of art inter alia. Not many Romans accepted these cultural innovations, that is why Rome had civil wars again.

The peace of the roman people

Between these civil wars, a person gave peace to the Roman people, August. Days later, The Senate appointed him as the first emperor of Rome, this way a series of emperors governed Rome with great skills. Of course, until 410 A.C.  when the Barbarian Invasions repressed Rome. From this point on Italian history began with the ghost of Rome, The Great Empire.
