Portuguese history

Portuguese culture dates back to prehistoric times. Celtics influenced Portuguese people so they adopted many Celtic traditions. ”Portuguese” derives from a Roman word: Portus Cale was a Roman settlement, Romans called this region Lusitania so the prefix Luso means “Portuguese”. Portuguese conquerors spread their culture in many continents such as America, Africa and Asia, so you can find many Portuguese customs in Brazil, Mozambique or Macau. This country currently has one of Europe’s most fascinating cultures.
