Kobe, one of the greatest cities in Japan 

One of the greatest cities of Japan is Kobe, with incomparable modern buildings, which were rebuilt after the terrible earthquake in 1995 that killed more than 5000 people and destroyed thousands of buildings. The official symbol of the city is Kobe Tower.

Kobe is the capital of Hyogo Prefecture, located between the sea and the Rokko Mountain. Kobe is considered one of the ten largest cities in Japan, and is also the favorite place to live for foreigners.

This city has a very strong economy, because it’s an important port and manufacturing center in the Hanshin Industrial Region. Kobe is the busiest container port in the region, surpassing even Osaka, and the fourth busiest in Japan.

Attractions of the city

If you are planning a Kobe trip, you should know that the city is well known for having a lot Western-style houses, which date to the days when the foreign trade was opened in 1868. Some examples are  The Ijinkan, a set of Foreign Houses of the 19th-century, clustered in the Kitano area; The Kyu-kyoryuchi a19th-century neighborhood turned now into restaurants and shops, the 15th century Chartered Square, here you can find high-fashion boutiques like Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Prada and Fendi. 

The Fruit Flower Park

Another attraction of the city are the parks, The Fruit Flower Park is a park full of beautiful flowers and greenery. This is a typical place where many people celebrate their wedding. Every year in spring the park becomes more beautiful with more than 10,000 tulips blooming. 

TheNunobiki Herb Park

TheNunobiki Herb Park is a 40-acre garden located on Mount Rokko. It has over 200 varieties of herbs. There are also greenhouses, exhibitions, and restaurants. 

The most typical dishes in Kobe

Kobe is also known for offering international cuisine such as the most typical dishes of several Mexican celebrations and other countries. The most famous dishes of Kobe are: The Kobe beef, beef exquisitely flavored; the sobameshi, a concoction of fried rice and noodles mixed together. 

Education in Kobe

Education in this city is one of the best in the country. The city has 169 elementary and 81 middle schools, 18 public and private universities, including Kobe University and Konan University, and 8 junior colleges. Here there are also many institutions for learning the Japanese language.
