Italy is definitely one of the most amazing countries in the world. Italy is located in south-central Europe and borders with France, Switzerland, Austria and Slovenia. Sicily and Sardinia, which are two important islands located in the Mediterranean Sea, also belong to Italy. Italy covers an area of 301,338 km2 and its population is about 60.6 million inhabitants that make Italy the fifth most populated country in Europe.

The capital of Italy is Rome; this city was also for many centuries the capital of the Roman Empire that was certainly one of the most important Empires in the world. Some of the most important European cities are also located in Italy, for example Milan, that is the world’s fashion capital; Florence, Venice, Naples and even The Vatican and San Marino that are independent states. Italy is known worldwide by its ancient buildings such as the leaning tower, the Roman Coliseum, The Fontana di Trevi, the Pantheon, and the Duomo di Pisa, which make Italy one of the most visited European countries.

Only a few places in the world have the rich history and traditions that Italy has. Italian culture has a large number of traditions that remain even in spite of the passing years. Family is another important tradition for Italians. Italian people love to spend a good time with their families, making wonderful celebrations of their weddings and baptisms ceremonies, eating the traditional Italian food and of course listening to their traditional music. Most Italians are also Roman Catholics; that is why Italians set up the Catholic schools where children would learn their religion and their culture.
