England is one of the four constituent countries of the United Kingdom. Its territory geographically comprises the central and southern part of Great Britain, an island that is shared by Scotland and Wales. The country also includes over 100 smaller islands such as the Island of Scilly and the Island of Wight.

The dividing line between terrain types is often indicated by the Tees Exe line. South of that line, there are larger areas of plains, including East Anglia and the Fens, although hilly areas are the Cotswolds, Chilterns and the North and South Downs.
The largest natural port of England is in Poole, in the south-central coast. Sometimes it is considered as the second largest port in the world after Sydney, Australia.
