China possesses a large number of beautiful cities throughout its territory. Each Chinese city shows us the majesty and beauty of ancient Chinese culture in modern times. In fact, China has a strong cultural background that is represented in the art, food, people, architecture, monuments and the huge variety of languages the local people speak.

The city of Beijing

The city of Beijing is one of the most spectacular places in Asia; in fact Beijing is the capital of China. Beijing was declared as a capital city in 1057 BC.  The city had plenty of names such as Ji Zhongdu, Dadu but the Cheng Zu Dynasty chose and changed the name as Beijing in 1421. However, before 1949, plenty of western people called the city Pekin.

The main center in the entire country

Nowadays, China is a prosperous country with a solid economic situation and Beijing as a capital has become an educational, political and business main center in the entire country. Beijing is an international and modern city located in the northeastern part of China. It has an elevation of 44.1, and has a total area of 16907 s q km.  The city has a population of 17 million inhabitants. There are two counties and sixteen districts. It borders Hebei in the north, west and south.

The Beijing weather is very interesting because it has a continental climate characterized by its humid and hot summer thanks to the monsoon influence and relatively windy, dry and cold winters due to the vast Siberian influence. However, there is some precipitation of rain in autumn. The average temperature in January is 25.3 °F; but in July it is 79.2°. 

There museums in Beijing

There are great museums and Art Galleries in Beijing city. Visitors can enjoy the most spectacular masterpieces, artwork, monuments and architectural pieces in different important museums such as the Palace Museum, the National Museum, the Military Museum, The Capital Museum, the contemporary art scene and Dashanzi Art District. 

Other Places in Beijing

In addition, there are a large number of big palaces, stunning landmarks and beautiful monuments. Such as the Tiananmen Square, the National Stadium, the Ming Dynasty City Wall Site Park, the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven and the Yonghegong (Lama Temple). 

Asian architectural style

Actually Asia has one of the most spectacular architectural styles in the world. For example we can mention Thailand with the Chameleon clock tower and Japan with the Byodo-in Temple.

  • The Chameleon clock tower in Thailand. This tower is an ancient landmark and its principal function is to show the thailand time to many people in this country. 
  • Byodo-in Temple in Japan. This building was constructed in 1502 by Fujiwara. This palace is considered the paradise of the Buddhists.
